Our History
The King Family began serving families in their time of need
since 1895. Timothy G. King lived with his family above their
funeral parlor and livery stable at 3171 S. Archer Avenue, in
Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. In the early 1930's, Timothy's
sons, Earl F. and Gerald F. King helped expand the business in
the Chicago Lawn neighborhood at 2506 W. 63rd Street. It is at
this former location where third generation funeral director,
John E. King, was raised. Having lived above the family funeral
home all his life, John King acquired an intimate knowledge of
the funeral business. In 1972 John took over the business and has
established affiliations with several funeral homes on the
southwest side of Chicago and suburbs. John continues to serve
families in the same tradition as his father, uncle and
grandfather have for the past 112 years.
King Brothers Funeral Home has recently been recognized by the
Illinois State Historical Society for our firm's 100 year
history.
